There’s a lot of work out there combining Zoom humor and workplace foibles, but Join Meeting’s cast of characters is what makes it stand out from the rest.
With clever acting, perfect comedic timing, and characters that we’ve all met at the office, from the bumbling boss, the no-nonsense team lead, and the cool Aussie that everyone loves who is mysteriously absent from almost every meeting. The dialogue is funny, the acting is spot-on, and the minimal editing and post work really makes this series feel like we’re peeking into the awkward 10am meetings. There are five episodes total, so whenever you need a minute (or two!) of levity, take a peek.
The series used Zoom’s native gallery and speaker views to emphasize the talking-over and strange cross-camera incidents that have made these unique work from home horrors ubiquitous throughout the workforce. Cut + Run’s editing secret is that it’s so good you don’t even know it’s there. Benji Weinstein, who is represented by SMUGGLER, uses smart cues and all-too-real incidents to make these episodes feel like the perfect mix of absurdist satire and authenticity.
