It’s the sort of thing a wise, well-meaning aunt might say to you when your heart’s been ripped to shreds by a relationship's demise: ‘Maybe it’s for the best.”
Yeah, right. Maybe. Still hurts though. This tender video, produced by Stolen Sun, expertly captures the beautiful melancholy of love gone wrong. Using diffused light and colours, the ethereal visuals follow the relationship’s ebbs and flows and the couple’s fleeting, uncertain memories of their past together.
Talking about how he and Dalton came up with the concept, the director says: "Sometimes you’re torn apart by someone you love, or you tear yourself apart trying to make it work with them. They’re intoxicating but toxic. It’s about coming to terms with the end of what was a tumultuous relationship. You’ve bent until almost broken. Nearly crumbled. Maybe it’s best that you leave with what you still have left." Gulp.
