In 2023 there were 183 armed conflicts around the world, against this backdrop of escalating global war, Innocean Worldwide has collaborated with the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center to highlight how far we still seem to be from world peace.
The initiative, titled Capa vs War, includes print, OOH and a promotional film directed by Gabriel Mattar and Ricardo Wolff that ingeniously juxtapose war photographer Robert Capa's historic images with contemporary scenes of warfare, specifically ones that could be mistaken for pictures of current conflicts.
Gabriel Mattar, who is also European CCO of Innocean Worldwide, says: "Our partnership with the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Center is based on looking at the world with the same curiosity and courage Capa did himself. So, for Capa vs War, we hope to make people think and feel something when looking at the ads. Because even though Capa shot the original pictures displayed more than 80 years ago, they could all sadly have been taken today. And that made us all feel that war has been contemporary for too long."
