This film by Julian Marshall is a testament and a witness to the history and failure of the American system.
Over the voices of Cornel West and Killer Mike, we see views of people in the streets, ground-level perspectives of protests and police violence that are happening in New York City. The sadness, anger, and collective strength of these men are echoed in the people we see marching on the streets, holding signs, and demanding accountability and change. The film is powerful because this movement is powerful.
In We Are George Floyd, Julian Marshall makes us all complicit in the fight. It is our choice to view this film and then move on, or to make the hard choice to join in, and raise our voices, and be heard during the next to protest.
