Hyper-tech fashion brand Vollebak focuses on the future of outerwear, following the day-to-day of an Asteriod Miner in 2084.
The film is short, with production details from Gorgeous that makes the ad look like it’s been taken out of the command center of Discovery One. The miner wakes, prepares for an asteroid impact, sends a message home, plays with his cat, and packs it in for the night. The story is simple, but the set design and portrayal of the rapid sunsets and sunrises astronauts experience is evocative.
Creating a bleak, industrial view of the future highlights the utility of the product. It’s an efficient and striking response to an industry that values obsolescence over durability. The ad is not like other fashion placements, and the cleverness of creating a story instead of highlighting exactly what Vollebak is offering is not lost in space.
