A young girl with stresses about her tresses turns to her hapless dad to save the day in Hair Love, a gorgeous animation produced by 6 Point Media.
Just released by Sony Pictures Animation, the six-minute film's not only a touching portrayal of the love between fathers and daughters, but is also a gentle ode to Black pride and having confidence in your natural hair.
Be warned – you'll need a goodly supply of hankies when you reach the reveal of why the girl wants her unruly Afro styled up just like her mum did it.
Chicago native Matthew A. Cherry was an NFL wide receiver who played for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cincinnati Bengals, Carolina Panthers, and the Baltimore Ravens up until 2007, when he retired, moved to LA and took up making short films and music videos.
