An extraordinary piece of imagination, Something Could Happen combines a story of love and heartbreak amidst finding yourself in your old things.

A young woman, played by Lauren Cohan (known for her role on The Walking Dead) sits at home, alone and sad in a new, empty home. She throws out her old things, trying for a new date or two, but doesn’t see her knick-knacks and key rings band together to form a clockwork suitor. With tarot cards tucked into a patchy top hat and a walkman hanging off his suit, the wayward suitor is crafted full of 80s detail.

In addition to directing, Warren Fu also wrote the script for Something Could Happen, drew the art for the character “Tiny” and stepped in to play the role of “Biggie” alongside Cohan. Intercut with archival footage of an old Tom Petty performance, the film really emulates the idea of bringing old things to life again, even if we only enjoy them for another moment or two.
