Steeped in mystery and bathed in orange light, this gorgeous video directed by Scott Dungate captures the wonderment and weirdness of childhood.

The track is taken from the singer-songwriter’s new album GSG MIXTAPE, a musical diary capturing the 23-year-old's challenges, hopes, dreams and reflections.

In the middle of the song is a monologue, during which she poignantly recalls her early years: “when I was three, being happy was easy, I’d share a bed with my Nana, she’d make my favourite spaghetti.”

Such wistful sentiments are reflected in the film’s dark and sombre background, out of which golden motifs glow.

Dungate explains how the video's concept developed: "When we began working on Orange we asked Leah about her inspiration and she spoke about the feeling of the sun, and how that warm sensation of memory was the thing that she was chasing in this song, but also in life. From that we came up with the idea of a sun orbiting our warmest memories – which for most of us, are our childhood memories."

The children’s eyes are black to reference Dou's descriptions of little 'uns as ‘pretty demons’. "This is something I can relate to," admits Dungate, "I have two kids, they are in the film in fact! And they can be pretty demons at times."

He muses on how the media often portrays children as too perfect, "in reality, they are dirty, violent but ultimately just carefree.” Cue weary parents nodding in agreement.
