In terms of the law and road safety, drink and driving isn’t an ideal combination. Yet in the land of unlikely juxtapositioning that is advertising – a union between a Scotch whiskey and luxury motor brand can result in a perfectly reasonable piece of promotion.
Conceived by Edinburgh agency Leith, helmed by Greenroom director Bugsy Steel and beautifully edited by Lee Archer, with lush cinematography by David Foulkes, the spot celebrates the new global partnership between the Speyside distillery and the car producer, recognising their shared goals of sustainable production.
While the voiceover proclaims lofty sentiments – “one captures the essence of time, forever preserved in golden spirit,” while “one reimagines space, moving over the land like a whisper” – the shared ethos is a respect for nature.
The brands will be jointly developing products and creating customer experiences and and events together. The Macallan aims to be carbon neutral on its estate by 2030, and is committed to having a fully electric passenger fleet of Bentleys at the site by 2025.
