Directed by Tom Geens and created pro-bono for XR by Odelay Films and The Chicken Factory, the campaign cleverly depicts the apocalyptic outcome of not addressing the climate emergency.
Titled Choose Your Future, the film was shot for a £500 budget with a two-week production time, a remarkable feat that signals how creatives are willing to band together around an important cause.
Between 21 – 24 April, Extinction Rebellion (XR) activists will be joined by Greenpeace, NGOs, NHS health workers and anti-racism campaigners in a peaceful call to action around the Houses of Parliament.
Last month a report from scientists at the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warned that the carbon budget for 1.5°C of global warming will be exhausted by 2030 if we keep on emitting at our current rate.
Explaining its solidarity with XR on The Big One, Greenpeace stated “The UK government is failing to deliver the kind of wholesale action needed to avoid full-blown climate breakdown.”
XR is forgoing its previous tactics of civil disobedience, and aims instead to create a family-friendly event, with a diverse programme of speakers, performers and workshops awash with colour and culture. Tens of thousands have already pledged to join in.
