Directed by Marcin Pucyk through GMC Michał Cichomski for WSCHÓD, this stirring spot encourages Polish women and the LGBTQ+ population to use their right to vote to bring about change.
The film, titled WE ARE 52%, consists of dark and stirring imagery of women in the home as they passively take on domestic tasks such as ironing, cooking, and caring for children and the disabled, set to a disturbing soundtrack of misogynistic quotes from Polish politicians.
They each slowly turn to stare directly into the camera, putting a middle finger up to their lips to shush the voices of the politicians. The spot ends with a powerful reminder for women and oppressed communities that they make up 52% of the population, and therefore have the upper hand in changing their future if they use their vote.
