powered byRole Models, a sobering one-minute film recently released from the Hillary Clinton camp is thought to be the work of Droga5. Positioning the Republican presidential candidate as setting a bad example to the young, the spot features kids sitting in front of TV screens absorbed by his bizarre broadcasts.
The ad subtly implies how the bemused tots might ask adults tricky questions about Trump mocking a reporter with a disability, or his claim that Mexicans entering the US are “bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, they’re rapists,” – a clip watched by a young Hispanic girl. Such unsavoury utterences are cleverly contrasted by the dewy-eyed impressionable innocence expressed in the children's gazes.
Clinton closes the ad with footage from a rally where she reminds attendees that their children and grandchildren will one day look back on this time and at the decisions that were made. “We need to make sure that they can be proud of us,” she warns.
Simple and impactful, it was likely the work of Droga5, which has created previous campaign videos for Clinton. Plus, David Droga tweeted a simple “absolutely” along with a link to ad when it was released. Nicely done.
The ad will run in key battleground states like Ohio, Iowa, Colorado, New Hampshire, Virginia, Florida, Nevada and North Carolina as part of a US$10.5 million ad deal announced in June.
