It’s a sad state of affairs that global suffering caused by climate change and Covid has only worsened the compassion fatigue that good causes must battle when launching appeals.
Talking about a drive to grow its regular supporters, Kristina Rasmussen, Campaign Manager at UNICEF Denmark says: "It is becoming harder and harder to convince [people] they must support the NGOs on a permanent basis. But the monthly contribution is essential if we are to continue to help children of the world. Therefore, we must think outside the box and try something new if we are to catch the Danes' attention.”
Reaching far beyond the box, this superb spot, Follow the Calling, was created by Advice and directed with great comic flare by Bertil Vorre, through New Land.
Eschewing the usual emotive depiction of suffering and disaster, the film offers a good old chuckle for charity in relating the hilarious tale of supporters calling to each other in various bonkers ways about the plight of needy children, with one woman becoming so transported by her yelling she makes a right old mess in the kitchen.
