In an uplifting and strangely appropriate response to a lot of the problems happening around the world, Guiding You Home creates a sense of comfort and warmth.

As people head home on public transport, in busses, and trains, as they pack up their car, truck, or suitcase, they belt a rendition of Homeward Bound by Simon & Garfunkle. The chorus of characters is full of vivid stories, showing what they have to come home to when they’re finally dropped off on their doorstep. Each reunion is well handled and developed, feeling sentimental but not too sweet.

Tying together all these small stories is director Timothy Kendall from Wilfrid Park, who gives each person in Guiding You Home both a focus and a distance. The sound design and editing is really spectacular, and the style of the work feels like a small slice-of-life musical.
