Created by DDB and directed by Steve Ayson through 3&7, this touching yet humorous spot from New Zealand beer brand Speight's celebrates the importance of having good mates.
The spot, titled The Speech, portrays the sweet – yet awkward – moment a young guy gets on stage to deliver a speech at his brother’s party, but when his nerves take hold he just can’t get his words out.
Luckily, his buddy, who is watching from the audience, heroically comes to his rescue by singing a mumbled rendition of Donna Lewis’ classic hit song I Love You (Always Forever).
Perfectly balancing comedic cringeworthy moments with a heartwarming display of brotherly affection, the spot stands out in a sea of overly-masculine beer advertising to show what it means to be a true friend.
