Based on the intel that one in three dents are parking related, this fun ad from the Norwegian bank and car insurer DNB explores the phenomenon of the wandering trolleys that are the scourge of supermarket carparks.
Conceived by agency Try, directed by Andreas Riiser and produced by Bacon, Evil Shopping Carts involved the production of a fleet of remote-controlled trolleys that ambushed unsuspecting drivers in Oslo carparks.
Moving from horror movie vibe to a candid camera, the ad sees bemused drivers wondering if they’ve lost their marbles as they witness demonic self-drive trolleys hellbent on rolling into their motors.
Along with mini engines, the trollies were also equipped with hidden speakers that played alarming cart-collides-with-car sounds. The spot ends with the comforting message that DNB covers damages on parked cars without raising the premium.
