The meditative film, titled Escape, features the classically-trained painter enjoying the slow, rural pace of life on the island – something he eschewed as a child.
He builds a fire in his remote cottage, makes a cuppa, prepares his brushes and sets out to find the right spot to set out his easel and capture the island's wild beauty in oils. Not a lot happens, but that’s the point.
Having won Official Selection at the Cannes Indie Shorts Awards 2021, along with gaining other festival nominations, the lovely film is a peaceful reminder of the benefits of connecting with nature and slowing down a gear.
