Bounty/Banana feels the burn

Starting life as a homemade batch of hot sauce made for their friends, 1stAveMachine's directing duo Bounty/Banana has expanded the fiery concoction into a limited edition line.

And what better way to celebrate their fiery passion project, called Burn/Bond, than by creating a red-hot mixed-media film to accompany it? 

The two-minute cinematic journey goes beyond the burn of the chilli pepper to tell a deeper story of shared moments and genuine connection. There's a face-off, a hot sauce; but who will win the ultimate spice showdown? The unwilling contender, thrust into the fiery arena, or the experienced master looking to cement their supremacy once and for all? 

The film features hybrid images, mixing real shots with a wide range of on-set effects, 2D and 3D animation, AI and mixed media. With input from [production company] Wizz, the film is a fiery and dynamic combination of ingredients, mixed together perfectly by two chilli lovers.

"As we are both mixed cultured, we both have a part of our family that can handle serious heat, and the other that fears the challenge when it comes to the table," said Steven Briand, one half of Bounty/Banana. "With this sauce, we wanted to have something that could bring people together on a fun and tasteful ride. It's a blend of chillies mixed with toasted coconut and cooked with banana leaves and many more spices. It will kick you in the mouth right at the start but the burn will quickly fade to sweet flavors so that hot sauce lovers and rookies can enjoy it together."

"Our mums put too much chilli in our food," added Julien Jourdain, the other half of the duo. "Now it's our time to pass on the torch, [and] this film is dedicated to our daughters."
