Directed by Lyle Sacris, A Star Wars Experience for All is an homage to childhood and friendship, featuring Star Wars fans doing the most for their friend.
Two young boys search through the neighborhood, experimenting with materials and ideas as they create an immersive-experience X-wing chair so their friend can watch Star Wars with them. The earnestness of the ad is so apparent, and the ending where the young girl can finally understand why her friend’s love this sci-fi space opera is incredibly charming. She grins as they ask what she thinks, signing, “I loved it!”
The DIY touches to the final chair are precious; blue straws fly as the Falcon jumps into hyperdrive, water splashes the girl as the Jedi and the Sith battle on a seaworld jetty, and phones buzz and flash as Rey activates her lightsaber. A Star Wars Experience for All is undeniably corny, but it’s a lovely tribute to the power of friendship and movies, while underlying the need for accessible theaters.
