“When people ask for new films I usually direct them to the dog park or a muddy film,” says the VO in The Airport, one of the endearingly bonkers films for Skellefteå Kraft.
Created by Stockholm agency Volt, the campaign champions the reuse of old films from the 1960s and 1970s to promote the energy providers’s climate-aware sustainability policy.
Giving the old ads cheeky new voice-overs results in quirky TV spots loaded with vintage charm but, most importantly, seriously green cred – Skellefteå Kraft donates the money saved on film production to environmental research into renewable energy sources such as solar, wind and water power.
"Since we offer 100% renewable energy, it feels natural to also do renewable advertising," says Anki Högdahl, Marketing Communications Manager at Skellefteå Kraft, "instead of spending of money, as well as the earth’s resources, we allocate parts of the ad budget to research that can contribute to a more sustainable world. Turns out, renewable advertising even works better."
