Created by Ritzy Animation, Red is a detailed and over-the-top animated short film that doesn’t know where to stop.

Red is Rudolph, but he’s past his prime. Washed out. Discarded. With a record and no job, Red suddenly decides it’s time to stop moping and start training. He runs through the forest in his Hoof (not Puma) trainers, uses Saint’s Gym wrist bracers, Deer headbands, and makes his veggie smoothies every day in his Karot (not Oyter) blender. Red does make it back to the North Pole, to the joy, or perhaps fear, of children the world over.

The animation is so playful, and there’s no end to the nods and winks at movies like Rocky, Scarface, and other 80’s throwbacks. The character is also distinctly 80s - the weathered Road House warrior back for another round. The details in the piece are what makes it really stand out, as not even the beer bottles get away without an in-world rebrand from Heineken to Reineken.  It all comes together in a bizarre, uncanny-valley film that is full of heart, grit, and carrot juice
