Lil Dicky (aka Dave Burd) is no stranger to the self-referential, and, with this hilarious spot for Microsoft's subscription service, shows that it's not just the metaverse that can be meta.
Following Dicky and his pally hype-man/rapper GaTa as they sit in on an advertising briefing, Game Pass Has PC Games (the title being deliberately clunky) sees an extended pitch derailed by its own awfulness, with Burd drawing from his own agency background and expertly deconstructing the service and what the ad should be.
Wittily directed by SMUGGLER's Tony Yacenda, making the most of a fun idea from Xbox and Trailer Park Group, the film's sly performances and fourth-wall-breaking antics - GaTa's illicit tweet scooting out in real-time - makes for a smart and irreverent way of making an announcement.
