Brand mascots are tricky things to get right, and introducing new ones even trickier.
Thankfully, insurance company IAG have found the perfect pairing to their flexible car insurance, designed for independent younger customers, in Larry, an easygoing orb who's content just rolling (or ROLLiN') through town.
The character, and, indeed, the brand and creative design were created in collaboration with Bear Meets Eagle On Fire; taking part in the process from building the identity to crafting the product communications.
Directed by Andreas Nilsson at Revolver, the campaign's commercial is an entertaining exercise in restraint; happy just to let its titular character bowl through the neighbourhood, freestyling along to the Digital Underground’s 90’s classic, Humpty Dance.
As part of ROLLiN’s contemporary graphic identity, Bear Meets Eagle On Fire collaborated with Rotterdam-based typography designers Studio Dumbar. The idea was to communicate the brand’s flexibility by incorporating kinetic movement throughout the type design and out of home campaign.
“This is a dream project for us," comments Micah Walker, BMEOF founder, "to help name and build a brand from design through to communication just isn’t something you get to do very often."
