Citroën pays homage to its French heritage in these farcical idents, created by Havas London and directed by Bold's Camila Zapiola.
Unveiled as part of the French car brand’s sponsorship of Channel 4 reality dating show First Dates, the idents are shot in the style of a modern French film, with a cinematic feel, swooning orchestral music and subtitles, and feature a series of couples sharing emotional moments in a Citroën C3. But, just as these scenes are about to reach their climax, a twist reveals their true context – a banal British situation.
In one, a couple’s passionate embrace is interrupted by a traffic warden knocking on the car window; in another, a relationship on the verge of crisis – “I don’t know what I want” - turns out to be a conflict about what to order at the drive-thru.
