The snow globe has been a well-used trope in festive filmmaking for some time now, but after the protective bubbles we've had to live in for the past couple of years, the visual metaphor has never been so acute.
In a sweet combination of live-action and animation, FCB Canada's ‘Tis the Season to Believe for Air Canada sees a youngster add to his snowglobe collection, only to have its inhabitants come to life and pine for each other.
Endearingly bookended with footage from Someplace Nice's Sean McBride, the film truly shines when the enclosed characters are brought to life by Robot Chicken creators Stoopid Buddy Stoodios; the puppetry feeling emotional and heartfelt, whilst cheeky touches embellish the craft; all soundtracked by Canadian music artists Forest Blakk and Coeur de pirate.

“This year’s holiday brand spot, was inspired by the universally shared experiences and emotions felt over the course of the pandemic. But this piece is also inspired by the resilience and power of love and determination that has brought us back together” said Andy Shibata, Vice President, Brand, Air Canada.
“Slowly but surely, family and friends have been able to safely reunite and share beautiful moments together again, and we feel very fortunate to play a small part in their journeys back to one another.”
