As a young girl is visited at night by a giant whale, she spends her days collecting trash from a nearby beach and writing in her book.

In The Girl With The Whale, the girl in question drags a netful of trash home, setting it up in her backyard, a reminder as she journals. The film is sentimental, but powerful, with a strange, magical mythology that feels like a deep dive into one child’s imagination. One scene, in particular, stands out, as the young girl finally journeys underwater with the whale, touching its side, and the camera pulls out, dwarfing the girl, and like shadows, trash appears all around them.

Directed by Kumphol Witpiboolrut, the film showcases a talented cast alongside evocative visual effects. Produced by Sunshine Etcetera and developed by Ogilvy & Mather/Bangkok, this PSA for the Charoen Pokphand Group is a strong example of how a little empathy can go a long way.
