This impactful and cinematic short film, co-directed by Lucia Valdemoros and Julieta Garcia Casalia through Rebolucion, shines a light on how changes to laws around reproductive health are forcing doctors to break the Hippocratic Oath (a promise of ethics historically taken by physicians) they swore to uphold.
Cleverly titled Hippocrites, the story starts with young doctors reciting the Hippocratic Oath during their medical school graduation, meanwhile a young woman named Rosie discovers she's pregnant in today's post-Roe world.
As the story unfolds, both Rosie and her doctor face the very challenging situation of access to reproductive care being restricted or banned, shining a spotlight on how doctors are being made to break the oath, and on how women's health and lives are increasingly at risk.
