Created by adam&eveDDB and directed by Henry-Alex Rubin through SMUGGLER, Waitrose' Christmas spot takes us on an atmospheric journey through the year from the perspective of the farmers and chefs preparing for the next round of festive celebrations.
As the spot opens, the song It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas accompanies close up shots of a Christmas tree being taken down and snow slowly melting away. Christmas has passed, and it’s business as usual.
We follow the characters as they endure ice, rain, wind, and muddy callused hands, through to the respite of spring and the beating sun of summer, until we are once again pulled right back into the spirit of the holidays.
What makes this year’s ad especially joyous is the care and craft poured into every scene, combined with Rubin’s ability to focus on small, authentic human moments, perfectly capturing the warming feeling of a Christmas shared with loved ones.
