In the latest campaign to delight in the 'extraordinary' aspects of Oregon, W+K Portland has created a gorgeous series of spots that charm and inform in equal measure.

Highlighting the building blocks of the state - Oregon Rocks, Oregon Water, and Oregon Soil - the films use footage from real locations in all of Oregon’s seven regions, then pairing it with elements of stop motion, animation, CG, and practical FX.

Produced by CANADA and director Gerson Aguerri, the films' tactile aesthetic not only looks lovely, but also ties in with the message of practical application that runs through the campaign.

“We believe Oregon is so extraordinary that even the basics like rocks, water and soil (which every state has) are extra special here," explains Nick Stokes, W+K Art Director. "That even the mundane things are not mundane. Our water is specific enough to create the best beer and sake, our soil’s perfect for growing some of the best vineyards, and our rocks are what athletes train on.

"This campaign highlights that Extraordinary is what this place is made of and what makes everything that happens here so special.

"To achieve this, we worked with a big team of talented stop motion animators and artists, some of which also have worked with Wes Anderson on his stop motion films like Isle of Dogs, to meticulously craft and position each puppet and detail. We filmed real people and used footage from real locations in all of Oregon’s seven regions.

"Then we paired it with elements of animation, stop motion, CG, and practical FX to capture the surreal feelings and experiences that travelers can only have in our state."
