Beautifully animated and thoroughly enjoyable to watch, Passion Paris packs a huge amount of character and charm into a bare-bones pitch.
With shiny skin, beautifully folded pants, and shoes that look off the factory floor, cartoon-SCARR jumps, gyrates and spins to the beat. The artistry in the rendering is impeccable, creating a surreal dance studio where the artist can express himself in all his joy and effervescent movements. The Rest Of My Days delightful to watch exciting and fun.
Directed by Jack Antoine Charlot, there’s a sense of lightness and energy in the film. With a mostly black-and-white palette, the pops of color (yellow on the shoes, a bright flash against the wall) give us interest points to latch onto. The restraint is perfect, just enough to focus on SCARR and not enough to cause our eyes to wander. With care and craft, Passion Paris makes us all want to get up and dance.
