A short film, full of twisting vistas and slowly spinning landscapes, Spa is a reflection on a reflection, pulling you into a beguiling mirrored world.
Focusing on the way that water transitions through the earth - as snow, rivers, and rain, director Raf Wathion slowly eases us through seasons and landscapes, using few cuts and only a pair of human beings to interrupt the natural vistas. The effect is soothing and calming, without being effusive about the product. Spa is a soft spot, but the shapes and sounds are beautiful, and it feels like a strange slip into Wonderland.
With expert visual effects out of CZAR Brussels, Spa is beautiful without prettying the world up. Ad agency darwin BBDO from Diegrem leads a restrained, but expansive short.
