In this incredibly touching emotional animation, Stormzy shows a young Black man what being a hero is all about.
This political, uncompromising mix of art and action shows rapper Stormzy as a superhero, leading young black folks in protest, through school, and engaging in community care. As he flies through his community the searing lyrics are represented with bright, charming, and ultimately relatable characters who are fighting to survive, thrive, and find justice. Superheroes is hugely impactful, focusing on uplifting the women and children of the movement. The promo also pays tribute to the ancestors, the current generation, and those who passed too soon.
Directed by Taz Tron Delix, who also collaborated with Stormzy on Audacity, the promo doesn’t back down from hard truths, while still remaining hopeful. COMPULSORY produced the film, and the smooth animation was made by 2Viente.
