Featuring gamers returning to the real world after logging out, dying, or winning their video game, this new spot, Live The Game, for Sony Interactive embodies the immersive experience of virtual reality.
A young man returns home in the back of a boot, gangsters placing him on a suburban lawn as he stares at the VR headset in his hand. A woman crash-lands in Tokyo, her parachute smoldering from an evacuation. More gamers crash back into the real world, holding headsets, looking stunned by their previous games.
The VFX is just enough to hint at the video games without making it feel like the spot is trying to imitate the games themselves. It’s restrained but clever, encouraging a sense of anticipation. Alluding to different game styles and focusing on the extraordinary aspects of the interactive technology, the spot is fun and appealing without being silly. adam&eveDDB have created a sense of adventure and excitement, well paired with the emergent tech and the appeal of video games as a whole.
