In three animated shorts, Keano, Juliën, and Fleur showcase the superpowers that help them fight back against illness, with the help of their families.
Avoiding the usual conceits that can materialize when dealing with charity PSAs, TBWA/Neboko/Amsterdam has created three completely unique characters based on children who have been aided by the Ronald McDonald House Charities. Each video is voiced over by the children themselves, making the spots all the more emotional.
In each film, we learn the touching stories of these young superheroes through a stylized, comic-book-like showcase of the superpowers they use to battle their illnesses, each of which are transformed into monsters, easily defeated by our young heroes. While the animation is consistent, there is a different flavor to each piece, in both color tone and even genre.
Touching and sweet, the ad is a heart-wrenching reminder that when children get sick, having their parents nearby is the most important thing. Focusing on the children instead of the charity highlights the results of the foundation, re-emphasizing the positive message of strength.
