Set against the breakneck backdrop of Seoul, Korea, this gorgeously-shot and poetic short, directed by Tim Ro through Muyu Media, follows a weary woman seeking solace from life in the city.

Through whimsical and cinematic visuals, the film, titled HŏSa, meaning ‘to be futile’ or ‘in vain’, centres around the unrelenting work ethic and unimaginably high pain threshold of the Korean people. Overwhelmed by the speed of the city, the protagonist seeks to anaesthetise her misery with alcohol and partying. Longing to break free from the grind, she takes a leap of faith to find peace in nature.

“This is a love letter to my people suffering and toiling in their daily grind,” says Ro. “To simply dull out the pain and to, "work hard and play harder," is just not good enough. This is an exhortation to break free from the shackles and run toward a fulfilling life that awaits.”
