Child protection organisation Save The Children has launched this moving spot, created in collaboration with Made and directed by The Maestro’s Sebastian Caporelli, who is repped by Easy Mondays in the US, to celebrate 50 years of its work protecting young people across the world.

Paired with a hauntingly solemn rendition of Happy Birthday, the film features dark vignettes showing children living in dangerous conditions, some working in third-world sweatshops and wheat fields, while others survive in squalor or scramble for cover as an open-air market is besieged by gunfire.

When a young boy blows out his birthday candles and makes a wish –the same wish the charity has been making for 50 years – the tone of the music changes and the vulnerable children are elevated into the sky.
