Former MTV promo producer turned animation director Russ Murphy – aka RUFFMERCY – has created a hypnotic music video for ANiML’s track Breather, released by the Los Angeles-based indie label StrataSonic.
RUFFMERCY (who’s worked in the past for the likes of Thom Yorke, Nirvana and Chemical Brothers), created the video using a combination of rotoscoped live action (filmed in Bristol) mixed with hand-drawn cell animation.
A variety of textures were created for backgrounds and body fills for the dancers, with ink and paint directly applied to Super 8 leader film.
