Refurbishing more than just the vehicles, Publicis Conseil's latest spot for Renault puts a distinctly modern 'old' car in 1960's Paris in order to draw attention to the brand's age-old sustainability efforts.
Taking on the style and flow of a French New Wave classic (even using the playful music from Demoiselles de Rochefort to soundtrack it), Renew sees an authentically recreated 'city of love' play host to a charming couple and their exploration of an extremely trendy garage.
Directed with a deft touch by HENRY's Martin Werner, the spot's breezy feel and delightful attention to detail makes for a somewhat iconic impersonation of freewheeling cinema.
"Production-wise, we had to make the world alive with over 200 extras," comments EP Hugo Diaz, "plus a street dressed in late fifties fashion over 300 meters and more than 20 collection cars.
"This is why we decided to shoot in Prague. Not only for the excellent crew and world-class production design, but also because the streets already look like 1960s Paris.
"Not to mention they do have great wines!"
