Directed by Ramez Silyan through Magnetic Field, the promo for Post Malone’s Mourning sees the musician bemoan the frippery of false friends and the pitfalls of late-night boozing.
The absorbing, melancholy film sees the star attempt to push a large block of ice up a hill in the majestic Scottish Highlands (a location chosen as Malone was in the UK touring at the time).
It's a fitting metaphor for the agony of overcoming a particularly soul-shattering hangover.
“I kept being drawn to the texture of ice, and how that’s all that’s left when you get to the bottom of your drink,” explained Silyan. “From there, it evolved into the idea of Post pushing a giant block of ice until it melted down to a drinkable size. Knowing Posty was a big fan of video game Skyrim (he has the logo tatted on his foot) and ‘Elden Ring,’ I designed it as a pointless Sisyphean task in a role-playing game.”
