The world seems to slow down as the camera passes by giant icebergs, glaciers, and ice floes, focusing on the near-abstract shapes and colors of the Antarctic landscape.

Directed by Dave May, Uncover Antarctica is beautiful, simple, and direct. Taking a leaf from Apple’s book, Oppo has sent a documentarian with an Oppo phone to the South Pole to film a landscape that most people will never see themselves. Full of strange watery bodies, the film is both a recording of the landscape and a call to preserve it. With a lilting soundtrack that merges into seasounds and bird calls, the film is fascinating, going in and out of water, and creating a full sense of a mythic, uncovered world.

Embarking on a ten-day expedition to the South Pole, Michaela Skovranova, a noted photographer and a National Geographic expert, captured the wild beauty of the landscape, creating a sculptural, textured piece that examines extremes. Grey Germany developed the idea for Oppo, and supported Uncover Antarctica’s production through Tall Story, in collaboration with National Geographic.
