As anyone who has been living in lockdown with kids will know, cries of "Mummy" or "Daddy" are the blanket white-noise of life now.
However, as this impactful, audio-led spot from Boys + Girls for Swim Ireland goes to show, sometimes the attention kids crave isn't always playful.
Starting off happy, with a little girl playing in the water and shouting “DADDY! DADDY! LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!”, Be A Lifesaver goes on to hear her get into more difficulty with each repeated call; her cries going from happy and carefree to desperate and terrified.
Sound designed by Mutiny Studios and recorded on location on Sandymount Beach and Marion College swimming pool, the work is ostensibly a radio spot, albeit with deliberately restrained visuals to maximise the impact.
The result is a well-executed, harrowing but important reminder of the dangers of water.
