When it comes to football commercials, Nike is known for its blockbusters. From the joyful exuberance of Airport through the Gilliam-helmed mayhem of The Secret Tournament to the star-studded montage-of-might that is Write The Future, the sports brand know how to bring in all the big names of the game to create an almighty fuss. Now, finally, the women's game has its turn, as Wieden + Kennedy Portland's Dream Further give the world's best female players their time to shine. And, boy, do they take it!
Following a young mascot (10-year-old Makena Cook) as she heads onto the pitch, the film quickly morphs into a 'best dream ever' scenario, with Cook scooting around alongside players like Netherland's Lieke Martens and China's Wang Shuang, as well as former England player Alex Scott and Esports star F2TEKKZ. Reaching fever pitch with a once-in-a-lifetime free kick, the ad ends with the legend 'Don't change your dream. Change the world.' emblazoned on screen.
Shot by Prettybird's Francois Rousselet, and brilliantly soundtracked by Joan Jett's Bad Reputation, the 3-minute super-spot is thrilling, full of energy and able to lift even the most blasé footy fan's hype levels to the max. We are ready.
