Coming out of New Zealand, Netsafe delivers a hilarious campaign featuring two bumbling news anchors who are totally honest about misconstruing the facts.
With a cheery “Kia ora!” Your News Bulletin is off. It starts with cutting off news stories after just a headline is presented, totally out of context with whatever the story might actually be. Next up; a man says he found snakes in the park. He has a hand-drawn picture to prove it. Next an unqualified expert says that Y2K 2.0 is going to come around on February 22nd, 2022, because it’s just “too many twos.” Last, a young woman in a storm says not to worry, if everyone just goes outside and uses their leafblowers and faces east, the storm will be pushed out to sea.
Directed by Stan Stuchbury, Your News Bulletin shows just how ridiculous some of the fake news is, but also how easy it is to take things out of context. With the reveal that ⅓ of New Zealanders have accidentally shared fraudulent news, agency Motion Sickness has developed a piece that creates a sense of baffled acceptance and a desire to do better.
