Rarely does true love run smooth, and such is the case in this sumptuous short film for Mercedes that takes in music, motors and masquerades.

Called Immortal Love the eight minute spot was created by antoni Berlin and directed by Sebastian Strasser through Anorak Film, and is a visually striking, fantastical reinterpretation of Romeo and Juliet that celebrates the power of the everlasting – whether applied to a vampire’s undying love, or Mercedes' G-Class four-wheel.

Set within a nocturnal universe of glamour, mystery and excess, the film’s core themes of acceptance and diversity play out through the story of two lovers from opposing worlds; one, a pop superstar leading, the other a young, naive stranger.

Starring alongside the sharp-toothed cast is a gleaming line-up of Mercedes-Benz G-Classes, each model dating back to a different period over the past 40 years. But a car that lasts forever needs drivers who live forever...

"The idea came from antoni," says director Strasser. "In their brief they called the G-Class “immortal” and associated it with vampires that live for hundreds of years. A simple, striking idea they wanted to turn into an epic film."

When asked if he knew how he wanted to approach the film, Strasser says; "I knew precisely what I didn’t want: wealthy creeps with caps, castles and coffins, rooted in folklore. I was born in Transylvania myself, not too far from 'Dracula's castle'. Vampires are my people! I prefer seeing them as romantic outsiders navigating modern struggles and fighting their own nature for the love of others."
