People often come up to us at shots and say, “just pull yourselves together.” We don’t know why.
Anyway, moving on… this fabulous promo for the track Bruised Not Broken, by Matoma ft. MNEK, Kiana Ledé, has been directed by Jeff Desom and Carlos Lopez Estrada in a style that treads the gleeful side of gory as it visualises that post-break up ripped-apart feeling. Produced by Little Ugly, it brilliantly illustrates the art of – literally – pulling oneself together.
Finding themselves chopped up in the shop of an evil butcher – in a setting dripping with Burtonesque Sweeney Todd-style detail – Matoma, MNEK & Kiana Ledé set about licking their lost-love wounds and regrouping their chopped up bodies.
When they are just about reattached to themselves, they take revenge on the bloodthirsty butcher and engage in a jolly gig to celebrate their reunification, singing such refrains as “don’t want to be sad and blue, even if I’m black and blue.” Quite so.
