Body objectification and empowerment can be a tricky topics to unpick, but who better to tackle them than Riff Raff director David Wilson, known for his powerful, radically playful and body-positive style?
In this dynamic, mixed-media music video for her new track Look at My Body, British pop artist Mabel addresses 'the male gaze' - a feminist theory exploring imagery of women’s bodies portrayed through a male lens- with effortless style, sophistication and ferocity.
Through an array of cleverly-composed scenes from life drawing classes to porn magazines to classical paintings, each representing a different way in which patriarchy has objectified the female body, Mabel rewrites and undermines traditional narratives and reasserts her power through dynamic art direction, vibrant animations and punchy, badass lyrics.
