Tea brand Lipton and non-profit organisation Peace One Day have continued their partnership with a powerful documentary featuring iconic music artists in conversation about the power music has to bring people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences together.

In an inspiring piece of brand entertainment, and underlining Lipton's belief that through connections we foster understanding and empathy, this short documentary features a host of music stars discussing the historic role music has played in creating connections and fighting prejudice.

The seventeen-minute film takes viewers on a journey through six decades of music and features archive footage and never-before-seen clips, exclusively cleared for the film, called Together We Hear. The heart of the film is three conversations between six artists, all of whom gave their time and support through voluntary participation. Each conversation features a pair of musicians reflecting on their experiences of prejudice as well as the unexpected connections they share.   

The featured artist are music legend Nile Rogers, who talks to award-winning Scottish singer Emeli Sandé, connecting over finding their identities through music. British garage artist Craig David and dancehall pop artist Alicai Harley, who connect over their love of Notting Hill Carnival and the cultural significance it played as artists of Jamaican heritage in the UK, and iconic hip-hop star Eve, who chats to upcoming British rapper Ms Banks about the challenge of being Black women in the music industry.

The film is a continuation of  Lipton’s long-term partnership with Peace One Day, following their 2020 Make Tea Time, Peace Time campaign highlighting how peace flourishes when people connect. Together We Hear was conceived and created by creative-content agency Redwood BBDO, directed by Adu Lalouschek, and represents the first output from Redwood Studios, a specialist branded programming unit. The documentary is supported by Time Out and premiered across Time Out’s editorial channels.

"We wanted to find iconic voices who could really embrace the sentiment of what Peace One Day and its anti-racism stance is driving, and offer them a platform to share their own incredible and important experiences with humility and pride. It was incredible to work with musicians with such rich experience to share, and show the true connective power that music enables.”
