You’ve may have heard of The Tinder Swindler, but another shameless trickster is rumoured to have been darkening the doorways of KFCs across South Africa.

In 2019 word spread on social media that someone in South Africa was visiting KFC restaurants posing as a quality assurance inspector and, while the truth of this assertion has never been confirmed, it demonstrates the extraordinary lengths some people will go to for some finger-licking chicken.

This two-and-a-half-minute spot, created by Ogilvy Johannesburg and directed by Romance Films' Greg Gray, is inspired by this viral report and is a brilliantly observed, tongue-in-cheek homage to comedy-laced crime caper films that leans into the cinematic conventions of the heist movie genre.

Set to the soundtrack of Summertime and the Livin’ is Easy, by Billy Stewart, the film is an entertaining and humorous journey into one man's quest for endless free chicken.
