Displaying that breezy irreverent tone that often accompanies a Honda campaign, this jaunty spot, directed by Amin Soltani and produced in-house, is a testament to coronavirus creativity as it was written, directed, edited (and will be watched) entirely in various homes.
Not only does the film, #StayHome, swap out a gleaming full-size version of the motor in question for a toy Honda Civic, but it also wittily references those tired auto ad tropes of a lone vehicle traversing challenging terrain by having said toy scoot along deep-pile carpets, navigating table legs, lit by dappled light coming in through a window.
A message of adaptation, commitment and encouragement, it shows just what can be done at home and ends with the message, 'until we drive again', a reminder that a trip out in the motor is yet another of those deferred pleasures that will be all the sweeter when they finally come to pass.
