Stink Films director Felix Brady has crafted a stimulating study of the climber’s spiritual and cognitive engagement with the challenge ahead of her.
Titled Elementary, the film engages with the perspective of Lee’s own hands, body and mental states as she calculates her route from the bottom to the top of the rock face.
As she climbs, her world view becomes broader and more engaging; encompassing the various forces of nature and the beauty of the elements and her environment.
The film was shot on the UK’s Jurassic Coastline and in Portland, Dorset, locations that posed their own challenges. Brady overcame these thanks to his own climbing abilities; capturing some of the ascent by climbing adjacent to Eugenie with an Alexa Mini strapped to his back, allowing the cameras to capture close-up, intricate shots.
